Something New

My name is Angela Pridgen. I am a teacher at West Brook High School for students with Autism. This class is VERY new. As a matter of fact, we have only met about 5 times because of Hurricanes Gustave and Ike.

Awwww....costal living! :)

I am starting this blog for the students in my class and their parents. I hope to share information that is helpful to them as well as share information that is helpful to others that have children with Autism. This site is a work in progress so please be patient.

There may be changes pretty frequently until I get it the way I want it.....for now that is!

I'll be back!

I attended an Autism Society of America conference a couple of weekends ago in Houston. My head was spinning from all the info. I read a great quote from a mom whose child also has Autism. I wanted to share it.

“Autism is a spectrum. A spectrum of joy, sadness, laughter, and tears…. The joy of having a wonderful, unique child, the sadness of them not fitting in… The laughter of them turning the tables to teach you something; and the unstoppable tears when they finally master something after trying so hard… Autism isn’t an excuse to give up, it’s a reason to work harder and never stop trying.” My son has Autism. Autism doesn’t have him.
